The Garden of Earthly delights is an oil triptych by Hieronymous Bosch from 1495-1505 featuring the garden of Eden in the first panel, the garden of earthly delights in the center, and the last judgement (hell) in the right. The first panel features Adam and Eve surrounded by bizarre animals, the central panel shows people taking part in hedonistic, utopian joy while the final panel shows a grotesque hellscape, to show that humans have humans temptations have resulted in eternal suffering.

Hieronymous Bosch challenged the limits of art at this time because of his fantastical surrealist style, as well as his energietic brushwork which no other painter was using at the time. Most paintings  Though the surrealist movement didn’t come about until the 20th century, Hieronymous Bosch is a core inspiration for many surrealist painters. and the first acclaimed “surrealist” painter.
